About FUI

The Foundation University Islamabad (FUI), a project of Fauji Foundation, was established under a Federal Charter in October 2002. The University has been rated as category 'W4' (the highest rating category) by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The academic programmes offered by FUI are duly accredited by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC), National Technology Council (NTC) and Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC).

As a higher education institute (HEI), FUI, on priority, establishes linkages with other HEIs at national as well as international levels, local community and corporate sector, especially Fauji Foundation industries. FUI has signed number of MoUs with various local and foreign organizations including universities, industries, both public and private. We are regularly pursuing these deeds in order to establish a vibrant knowledge economy for the benefit of students, faculty and alumni.

An MOU with University of Bedfordshire (UOB), UK, under which a 3+1 Transnational Education program has been materialized for the students of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (BSSE), Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology, who shall complete their first three years of education at FUI and the last year at UOB. The graduates will be eligible for a grant of UOB (UK) recognized degree, duly approved by the accrediting bodies of both UK and Pakistan.

The strength of FUI lies in its highly qualified and experienced faculty and well designed academic programs, supported by state-of-the-art academic facilities such as fully equipped labs, libraries, lecture halls, video conferencing facilities, digital library, medical laboratories, auditorium and seminar halls, etc. FUI has also established a Media House, an FM Channel 101.8 and a Psychology Clinic.

 

Genesis

Foundation University Islamabad

The Foundation University Islamabad is an affiliated project of Fauji Foundation (FF) which is a charitable trust for the Welfare of ex-servicemen of armed forces and their dependents. Corporate operations of FF began in 1954, when the Post War Services Reconstruction Fund set up earlier in British India in 1942 was reactivated.
Fauji Foundation is amongst the largest business conglomerates in Pakistan having 18 industries with a strategically diversified investment portfolio. A List of Industries is available at (http://fauji.org.pk/fauji/businesses/overview).
Operating as a self-supporting entity in the private sector, FF has been generating financial resources to meet its welfare obligations through its own industrial and commercial projects. Today, it extends social welfare services to over 9 million beneficiaries i.e. 5% of the country’s population. Being the largest welfare and industrial group in the country with current assets worth Rs.229 billion and net worth of over Rs.109 billion, The FF spends around 80% of its annual earning on welfare. The FF successfully manages large healthcare consisting of 115 centers, 100 schools/colleges, and 65 vocational/technical training centers. The FF successfully meets all its continuously expanding welfare obligations across the country from its own resources. The FF’s services in these areas are acknowledged as indirect assistance to the government for bringing social uplift and improving the quality of life.

 

Furthermore, counselling and career guidance is available for students along with substantial opportunities for participation in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, to turn them into well rounded personalities. Additionally, the University strongly emphasizes on character building and instilling ethical values in students. Financial Assistance in the form of scholarships is available to deserving, underprivileged but outstanding students. University has also established Alumni Association which provides a platform to the graduating students to interact, inspire and benefit from the Alumni of the University.

FUSST

Foundation University School of Science & Technology

FUSST is providing education in Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering, IT and Management Sciences from bachelors to doctoral level. The faculties of Rawalpindi Campus are member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT) and International Association for Media and Communication (IAMCR).

FUSH

Foundation University School of Health Sciences

FUSH consists of the University Secretariat, Foundation University Medical College (FUMC), Foundation University College of Dentistry & Hospital (FUCD&H), Foundation University College of Physical Therapy (FUCP), Foundation University College of Nursing (FUCN) and Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH) which is a teaching hospital for FUMC, FUCN and FUCP.

FUMC

Foundation University Medical College

FUMC was established in the year 2000. The intake of the college is 150 students per year. FUMC is recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) for FCPS Part II training. The College is housed in a modern complex of its own, with hostels for boys and girls, located within the same premises. The College is listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) and is a member of International Association of Medical Regulatory Authority (IAMRA) and Visiting Students Learning Opportunities (VSLO).

FUCN

Foundation University College of Nursing

Fauji Foundation School of Nursing established in 1979 has now been upgraded to Foundation University College of Nursing (FUCN) as a constituent college of the Foundation University since 2019. The FUCN is committed to establish high standards for nursing education in Pakistan. FUCN is recognized by Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and authorized to induct 50 students per semester in its Bachelors of Science (BS) Nursing Program.

FUCP

Foundation University College of Physical Therapy

FUCP offers Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programme since 2014, which is another important milestone achieved by the Islamabad Campus. The duration of programme is 5 years, with an intake of 50 students per semester. FUIRS is in the process of acquiring membership of World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT).

FUCD&H

Foundation University College of Dentistry & Hospital

The FUCD&H is providing dental education of international standards in Pakistan since 2016, with a student intake of 50 per year. The college is equipped with high quality dental equipment, teaching aids, modern labs, well-resourced lecture halls and qualified Dentists, to provide dental care to the general public and beneficiaries of Fauji Foundation. The college is a member of International Association of Medical Regulatory Authority (IAMRA).
