Workshop on How to Counter Fake News in the New Digital Age

On 18/10/2021, an Insightful and informative workshop titled, "How to counter fake News in the New Digital Age" was organized under the supervision HOD Economics and Finance – Dr. Nazima Ellahi. The three hours workshop was held in Seminar Hall, FURC. In this Event, around 35 students participated from the Department of Economics and Finance and Department of Business Administration.

The event was followed by the Speakers of the Workshop Mr. Asad Shoib and Mr. Aqib Abbasi, enlightening the audience on different aspects of the topic. The workshop was interactive and every participant of the event participated and took part in the discussion about how it is important to not believe and react to every news instantly without proper investigation. It was further discussed that disinformation and inaccuracy, also known as “fake news” is gradually becoming the norm and is influencing the way people view the realities of life. After addressing the issue of ‘Fake News’, Guest speakers highlighted the practical ways of identifying and combating the Fake News. Throughout the Session, participants showed eagerness to share their experiences of encountering hoaxes online.
At the end of Event, Dr. Nazima Ellahi was invited on stage to share her insights and present souvenirs to the esteemed guests
