The conference aspires to exhibits the excellence of research scholars and representatives from academia and industry. What is Our Goal?

The 1st International Conference on Contemporary Media Debates aims at forming the lines of communication, increase in the academic mobility and formation of mechanisms for personal interaction with foreign researchers and subject specialists related to the educational, social, political and media circles from academia and industry in diverse panel discussions.

Conference will feature a number of panel discussions led by experts from academia and industry with the objectives to provide a platform for academicians, researchers and practitioners to:

  • Disseminate research, providing insights into the challenges, opportunities, emerging strategies and analytical tools in the domain of Mass Media Uses and its Effects;
  • Present case studies on application of tools and techniques in the field of Mass Media Uses and its Effects;
  • Explore cutting- edge ideas, results and share experiences
  • Critically evaluate questions concerning the elaboration of effective mechanisms for activation of international cooperation among researchers, innovators, and representatives of social community as well as the provision of interstate media.

Prof. Dr. ZafarIqbal

Read more Dr. ZafarIqbal, PhD, carries over twenty years of teaching and research experience. He received doctorate in Mass Communication in 2003 with specializing in media and government relations. He serves at International Islamic University, Islamabad and published in the reputed national and international journals. During last ten years, he spent remained a post-doctorate scholar at the University of Surrey, UK, University of Southern California, LA, USA and as Chevening Fellow at University of Oxford, UK. His work aims at exploring the negative sentiments that historically exit between Muslims and non-Muslims, and attempts to figure out the present state of hostility towards Muslims/Islam in the contemporary media dominated world. His basic assumption explains that Islamophobia as a phenomenon is historic in nature and contemporary construction is mainly mediated and its epistemic/symbolic dimension has different connotations. As such, its construction is rendered in a pluralistic manner; hence, it appears as a corpus constituted of Islamophobias. His latest book titled Islamophobia: History, Context and Deconstruction (2020) is published by Sage Int. sheds light on these and many other aspects of Islamophobia.

Prof. Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj

Read more Professor Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj is serving as head of the department, Media Studies at Bahria University, Islamabad.He has served as Dean Social Sciences at AllamaIqbal Open University. He carries over 32 years of teaching and research experience. Dr. Siraj holds Masters’ in Journalism with distinction, Doctorate in Mass Communication and Post-Doctorate from University of Southern Illinois (USA). He has a vast experience of curriculum development. Dr. Siraj has authored 50 research papers published in national and international reputed research journals. He also has written many books as well as he contributed chapters on various aspects of Mass Communication. Dr. Siraj participated in multiple research conferences and member of media professional societies/forum at national and international levels. Dr. Siraj has won many awards/scholarships and research projects.

Dr. Shabir Hussain

Read more Dr. ShabirHussain, Associate Professor at the Media Studies Department Bahria University. Dr.ShabirHussain is serving Associate Professor at the Media Studies Department Bahria University. His academic interests include Peace Journalism, conflict communication, social movements in digital era and media-policy interaction. He has published in prestigious journals like Journalism, journalism practice, gazette, information development and political communication. Currently, he is working on a project on digital information warfare in South Asia.
