WORLD HEALTH DAY SEMINAR 2022

The department of community medicine commemorated the world health day with theme “our planet, our health” on 8th April,2022. The seminar was arranged in Jinnah Auditorium, FUMC to raise awareness among medical students and faculty regarding environmental health.  HOD Community medicine, Brig ® Naila Azam gave her welcome remarks. Lieutenant General Nigar Johar Khan graced the occasion as chief guest & Dr Saima Hamid  VC, Fatima Jinnah Women University, was key note speaker. Both emphasized on long-term investments, well-being budgets, social protection and legal and fiscal strategies.

Students of 4th year MBBS presented SDGs pertinent to this year theme. This was followed by a video on plantation drive by 4th year students and faculty conducted as  pre-seminar activity.  PGTs of community medicine Dr Fatima Ali Raza and Dr. Mariam Razzaq emphasized on United Nations decade on ecosystem restoration and the importance of biodiversity and infectious disease respectively.

Closing remarks were given by Rector Maj Gen Nasir Dilawar Shah appreciating the efforts put in by students and faculty of community medicine and stressing the importance of sustainable utilization of resources and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being. 

Key note speakers were presented with university plaques and bonsai tree as a token for remembrance. At the end of seminar, the guests were then taken to the pledge wall to sign pledge for any single activity/intervention which they are willing to adopt to save earth. The seeds of different vegetables, fruits and ornamental plants were presented to the guests and students to take with them and plant them in their living areas as a token of to fulfill their responsibility for sustainability of planet.
